Tanzania expects to present the documents of nine major strategic projects worth 1,433 billion US dollars at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change Convention (COP29) to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11 to 22, 2024.

The aim of presenting these texts is to raise money to deal with climate change that Tanzania is struggling with.

The Secretary General of the Office of the Vice President, Engineer Cyprian Luhemeja, said this while speaking on the program "Our Environment and Future Tanzania" broadcast by TBC1 television station and produced by the Office of the Vice President.

He said the Tanzanian delegation will be led by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango who will represent the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Dr. Samia Solution Hassan.

Engineer Luhemeja has said that in the meeting there will be a discussion that will involve leaders and experts from the country aiming to establish a common position in various environmental protection issues.

In addition, he said that Tanzania will have an exhibition pavilion where various activities that are being done in the country in response to the effects of climate change will be shown.

He has said that the fight against climate change is a war that the country continues to fight and that it requires joint efforts to ensure that it is successful and that citizens should stop cutting down trees and instead plant and take care of them.

He said that the Government has invested in the environment so the people have to support it and that is why it has come up with the agenda of clean energy for cooking through the leader of Africa, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Dr. Samia Solution Hassan.

"At the COP29 meeting, we want to show the world how our country encourages the use of clean energy for cooking and thus enable us to find stakeholders who will add strength to this agenda and thus we can get energy at a low cost for our citizens," he said while emphasizing that clean energy is not only gas but various materials that do not involve cutting down trees.

General Secretary Luhemeja added that clean energy for cooking is an important tool to deal with environmental damage that saves trees that would be cut down to get firewood and charcoal actions that can lead to desertification.

He said that the meeting will be marked by the proposed national theme which is 'Using Carbon Business Opportunities in the use of Clean Energy for Cooking as well as renewable energy sources'.

This theme aims to encourage the use of clean energy for cooking in order to protect the environment and build the ability to withstand the effects of climate change in promoting the national economy and stimulating sustainable development.
